Volunteer Guardian Program Celebrates Its 5th Anniversary

Oct 02, 2019

This year, the Volunteer Guardian Program celebrates our 5th anniversary!  Over the past five years, our program has served hundreds of wards of Summit County Probate Court by providing trained, compassionate volunteers to serve as legal guardians.

In reflecting on the last five years, it is remarkable to note how five organizations in Summit County pulled together to find a solution to a then growing concern- that there could be many vulnerable individuals in our community left without a voice, without an advocate.

it was through the joint efforts of Summit County Public Health, Summit County Probate Court the ADM Board, Summit DD and the Summit County Executive’s Office/Department of Job & Family Services that the Volunteer Guardian Program has its roots.  Even more remarkable is that each of these organizations continue serving a vital role in ensuring the ongoing success of our program.

While our committed volunteers are at the heart of the Volunteer Guardian Program, we could not be the success we are today without the support and commitment of these organizations and the unique perspective that each brings.

So, on our 5th anniversary, we would like to take this time to recognize these organizations and thank them for their efforts to ensure that no one in Summit County would be forgotten!
