Compassion: The Heart of the Volunteer Guardian

Nov 01, 2018

A characteristic that makes our volunteers so exceptional is their compassion!

But what exactly is compassion? According to Roget's Thesaurus, compassion is "Sympathetic, sad concern for someone in misfortune."

Compassion is forefront for the Volunteer Guardian and it is what makes us unique! Many of our wards have medical diagnoses, such as Alzheimer's disease and related disorders, that prevent them from being able to form deep bonds or relationships. Some are unable to communicate at all.

Yet, it is the Volunteer Guardian who recognizes and understands that our wards are vulnerable, isolated, and alone when it comes to having someone advocate and support them. The Volunteer Guardian sees the need and is willing to ensure these individuals still have a voice - that they are not forgotten!

Our Volunteer Guardians take the time and effort to make a difference in the lives of these our wards in need!
